At SimpleSignal, we’re constantly looking for ways to further integrate business communications as a contributor to overall business productivity. Today SimpleSignal announced its implementation of the gUnify connector for Google Apps on its Broadsoft communications platform.

Incorporating gUnify into the SimpleSignal platform allows business communications to be seamlessly and transparently integrated across users’ messaging, customer management and voice calling activities. Basically the gUnify connector allows Click-to-Dial functionality directly from any phone number in a GMail message or Salesforce.com contact screen. It also incorporates logging of user calling activity in the course of carrying out their employee responsibilities.

Our CTO, Ujjval Karihaloo commented:

“SimpleSignal is powering productivity one Google Apps user at a time. By working directly with gUnify, we created industry-first features that further free businesses from the limitations inherent in legacy PBX’s and other systems that weren’t designed with today’s workflows in mind.”

With the gUnify integration, SimpleSignal customers can now work from within their browser to:

  • Click-to-dial any phone number directly from within Gmail instead of launching a separate application.
  • Receive screen pop notifications for incoming calls because gUnify integrates with the Google Apps contacts directory.
  • Track activity history and create searchable notes associated with that history, as well as tag billable hours, all of which frees employees to work more efficiently and accurately.
  • Use instant messaging (IM) and presence because Google Apps now fully syncs with SimpleSignal’s IM platform.
  • Quickly and easily establish conference bridges, send invitations to everyone in an email thread and start calls, all from Gmail.

The gUnify Connector requires no installation by end users. Once the administrator has implemented it on a customer’s Broadsoft platform it simply appears as a bar at the end of any GMail message. Clicking on the up/down arrows at the right brings up a dial pad with access to the user’s GMail contacts. The phone number of the sender and any other phone numbers within the message appear beside the dial pad ready for Click-to-Dial.

But, as a business tool, customers want to be able to track their business’s calling activity. gUnify logs and archives all calls with full call details such as number called, along with length, date and time of call.

The gUnify implementation is one more example of how SimpleSignal services its customers beyond the standard features normally associated with Unified Communications activities. gUnify integrates SimpleSignal’s Broadsoft platform with Google to simplify messaging and voice communications for Google Apps customers, as well as leading CRM platforms Apptivo, goClio, Nimble, SalesForce and ZOHO.
